In explaining how Sandplay Therapy works in Silent Workshop of the Psyche Kay Bradway and Barbara McCoard ask:
"What is there about sandplay that causes both client and therapist alike to experience it as having such power? What is there about sand in a 19.5 by 28.5 inch tray with blue base and sides, a supply of water, a collection of miniatures, and the instructions, "Do what you want in the sand" that is so effective in promoting both healing and growth?"
If you're here shopping for a Sand Tray, you have probably already experienced the truth in that statement. If you'd like more information about Sand Play Therapy, I've compiled a brief list of resources. If there is another resource you think should be included on the list, please feel free to e-mail me. I also have a list of Sand Play providers who I can personally recommend. If you'd like to be added to the list, I'd love to exchange a website link with you, which as you may or may not know, is one of the best ways to rocket to the top of the search engine lists!
I generally use the size specifications developed by Dora Kalff:
19.5 x 28.5 x 2.75 with the inside painted a shade of blue reminiscent of
sky and water and the outside is a bare, natural wood.
The tray is sealed with caulk and moisture proofed with polyurethane. However, I can also customize your tray, if you prefer a very specific shade of blue or a specific size, etc. I can also add 1 inch wheels which still allow the tray to roll under most couches.
Don't miss these business card sand trays! Available in 2 sizes with or without magnets.
Handing out sand trays in place of business cards is a great way to get across the uniqueness of your specialty. They are also a perfect "teaching moment" when people don't know what they are! Get the cards with magnets and have them visible to your clients, collegues and their guests at all times.
Small bags of sand are also available with the small sand trays for desk-top display, give-a-ways at conferences and/or marketing meetings.
